How to Build a Culture of Care

In light of International Women’s Day, our Employment law specialists would like to share our support for the #CultureofCare campaign launched by Equality Forward, a global consultancy dedicated to building workplaces that work for everyone.

In the words of Founder Michelle King, “Building a #CultureofCare means creating a work environment where everyone can feel valued, respected, and reflected. Together with my team Equality Forward we have created 100 Actions for a #CultureofCare that provides practical ways that anyone can help foster a culture of support, compassion, and safety at work.

Every workplace can tackle the invisible barriers to women’s advancement and men’s fulfilment at work. Building cultures of equality and equity is about creating an environment where all employees feel like they can be themselves at work because they know they will be valued for this.

To enable every employee to practice daily acts of inclusion, we have created 100 actions for equality which address the key challenges all individuals encounter at work because workplaces devalue difference.

Every employee can take up the challenge to practice all 100 actions and build a culture of care in their organisation. Collectively we can remove the barriers to advancement, inclusion and fulfilment at work by making equality and equity a daily practice.”

The 100 actions are free to download, share and use in your workplace.

At Dragon Argent, we are proud of our culture and the diversity of our team. Through listening to understand what really matters to our people, our Employment law specialists have recently amended our Holiday Policy to enable employees to celebrate their own religious festivals by swapping their Christian religious Bank Holidays. While this was well-received, there will always be more we can do to improve our workplace so we love how practical, thoughtful and wide-ranging these actions are. We have decided to initially focus on these three actions. .

Which actions speak to you as an individual?

How could you use these actions with your team?
